Our congregation has been recently recognized by the Unitarian Universalist Association as a Welcoming Congregation. In the letter of congratulatlions Alex Kapitan, LGBTQ Ministries, writes 'that the liberal religious tradition is affirmed every time another congregation commits itself to being a human place that affirms ... the presence of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender persons.' Thanks to the important work of the WC Committee and of the Fellowship.
An active Welcoming Congregation Committee currently functions as a sub-committee of Social Justice Committee. The major goal is to continue the education and insure the awareness of the congregation. Scheduling speakers/programs, ensuring that the welcoming spirit is alive and well at all levels of congregational life, as well as maintaining a presence and a voice for LGBTQ issues in the community: all are part of the committee’s work. The Committee welcomes anyone who would want to join in our work.
